STAERK VS Hummel

Last night we went to V1 in Koedbyen (red. the Meat Packaging District) in Copenhagen to meet up with designer Camille Staerk and CEO of Hummel Christian Stadil. The two Danish brand have teamed up to do a 5 piece sneakers-collection that will be launched for FW 2010.
We talked to both Camilla and Christian about the unsual collaboration. Unsual in that sense that the two brands can be perceived as opposites. STAERK being the black, elegant, avantgarde brand and Hummel being the colorful, casual and sporty brand. But both Camilla and Christian considered this as a fun challenge and both are very excited about the collaboration.
We asked Christian why he choose Camilla and to this he says: I have always admired Camilla and have followed her career for many years. I think, Camilla is extremly talented and she truly has a skill for designing. A skill that not many designers actually have. Camilla is also the sweetest persons – and this is as important to me as being a talented designers. I also choose Camilla because STAERK and Hummel are both Danish brands and I thought a collaboration could help us both.
When asking Camilla about the inspiration to the snaker collection, she said: It was very important for me to have equal parts of STAERK and Hummel. Therefore I was inspired by my own STAERK universe but also by Hummel’s heritage. I usually never wear sneakers myself – simply because I can’t really find a pair, I can see myself wearing – and therefore I wanted to create a sneaker, I would even consider wearing myself.
The collection consists of three girl styles and two guys styles and mixes Hummel’s sports values (leather, canvas and the bumble bee logo) with STAERK’s signature look of quality and details. The shoes will – of course – only be available in all black.
We are both very excited about the quite successful collaboration between Hummel and STAERK and we think you will be too.
